FOREIGN FIRE NOTES. Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, has reorganized its fire department on American models.—The British steamer Lucerne, while loading for an eastbound voyage at Liverpool caught fire from the explosion of a lamp and was scuttled and sunk to prevent her total destruction.—A short time ago the London papers took note of a slight fire out at Brentford, Essex, in a club house that used to be the residence of Nell Gwynn. Immediately afterwards there came to the club a letter.offering the services of a firm of London insurance valuers, and addressed to “ Miss Gwynn ! ” In the house itself a valuable carved oak mantel piece was damaged.— 1 he fire-loss ratio of the Bulgaria Insurance Company was only 17 per cent, in 1895. But then the Bulgarians do not do much in the insurance line, so that the above is no criterion of the actual fire…
