NEW YORK FIRE GOSSIP. THE death is announced of John J. Tindale at Mount Vernon, at the age of 73. In his youth the deceased was a member of the old Volunteer fire department of this city,and became the foreman of Peterson engine No. 15. He was a member of the Volunteer Veteran and Exempt Firemen associations.—The death of Miss Salome Purroy, principal of public school No. 53, is announced. She was a sister of Charles D. Purroy, deputy chief of the fire department.—Deputy Chief Reilly has returned from his vacation. [Deputy Chief Purroy’s vacation at Atlantic City, N. J., was interrupted by the sad death of his sister,already alluded to.] Chiefs Croker and Ahearn, Battalion Chiefs Duane and Cook are on their vacations.—Clerk Hart, who was reinstated by the Appellate division of the Supreme court has gone back to duty.
