SEWERAGE Fort & Delhaunt contractors, have begun work on the $25,000 sewer at Mason City, Ia. Another sanitary district is to be set off in Chicago, south of Eighty-seventh street. A channel is to be built connecting with the Calumet river at Blue Island and striking the Chicago drainage canal at the Sag, a distance of eight or nine miles. The old Illinois and Michigan canal feeder is to be widened and deepened and the Stoney Island creek route will be taken. This canal will cost from $4,000,000 to $5,000.000. Eventually it is expected the Calumet river will be widened aud deepened, so that vessels can pass through to the main canal at the Sag. The Metropolitan sewerage system of Boston, the apportionment commissioners report, will cost $5,030,000: the Charles river system, $800,000.
