WATER REPORTS. Atlantic City, N. J., is strong on the subject of meters and will soon have all its services metered in accordance with the recommendation of Superintentent Hawley, who also recommends the laying of a new twenty-inch cast iron forcemain from the Pleasantville pumping station to the city, at an estimated cost of $94,500.00, and the purchase and installation of a 5,000,000-gallon high duty pumping engine and two boilers at the Pleasantville pumping station, at an estimated of $26,000.00. The water rents have amounted to $68,974.99, and the total cost of the works, includir.g legal expenses of transfer,printing, advertising, etc., has been $865,061.85. The total cost of the Somerville, Mass., Mystic water works on December 31, 1895, was $667,976.95; during 1896 there was expended on constiuction account $16,631.83.
