WELLS New Iberia, La., will sink artesian wells. Frankfort. Ky., may drill an artesian well for the supply of the penitentiary and State building. Abbeville, Ga., has bored another artesian well with a flow of forty-five gallons a minute. At a depth of about 600 feet, in solid granite, water was reached, which rose to a depth of 200 feet from the surface. This makes three deep wells at Abbeville, each affording pure water. At Parkersburg, W. Va., six test wells have been sunk at a cost of $436.10. An artesian well is being drilled at Melrose Park, Chicago. It will be 1,800 feet deep, with an average bore-width of ten inches.
