REELECTION OF CHIEF STETSON. Despite the strenuous efforts of politicians to depose Chief Stetson, the city council of Minneapolis has again chosen him as head of that city’s fire department. F.L. Stetson is a New Englander, having been born in Maine at the close of 1853. After receiving a common school and academy education—paying for the latter by doing carpenter’s work,he removed to Minneapolis in 1868 and settled in the suburb of St Anthony where he worked at his trade. In 1870 he joined the volunteer fire department, and devoted nearly all of his spare time to learning the business of fire fighting after an intelligent and scientific fashion. He soon became an expert volnnteer fireman and in 1875 was elected chief of the old Cataract engine company —an office which he held up to the time of the consolidation of the East and West side fire department under Chief…
