WATER SUPPLY As Contractor Geo. W. Acock with a gang of workmen was engaged in replacing one of the big water-gates at Ridgewood, borough of Brooklyn, N.Y., he stopped to remove an obstruction. Just then the rope of the derrick from which the gate was suspended broke and the load fell upon him. He was dug out and taken to St. Mary’s hospital, where he was found to be suffering from internal injuries. Mr. Acock died soon after he arrived at the hospital. The deceased was a skilful workman and a thoroughly conscientious man. Select council of Philadelphia has passed the ordinance to provide for a fifty years’ contract with the Schuylkill Valley Water Company referred to elsewhere. The vote stood, yeas, 22, nays, 15.
