WATER SUPPLY A franchise for the construction of water works at Orange. Tex., has been granted to the Santiago Land and Water Company. According to press reports, the contract for the furnishing of pip0 for the extension of the wattr works in Spokane, Wash., has been awarded to Barrel & McClellan, for $40,000; digging of trenches and supplying of concrete, to Peter Costello, for $10,000; supplying bolts, castings, etc., to the Union Iron works for $2, TOO; extension to the power house to Oliver Bros, for $1,695; and the placing of a wheel to Oscar Huber for $510. A system of water works is to be co.istructe 1 at Pipestone, Minn., for the Indian Industrial school. D. W, S Harris, is superintendent. Surveys for the proposed Mill creek reservoir, at Johnstown.
