THE MANISTEE CONVENTION. The Michigan State Firemen’s Association has just held its twenty-first annual convention at Manistee. There was a good attendance of delegates—twenty-seven cities and towns being represented. The topics discussed were many and full of interest to firemen. They were as follows: (1) What inducements are there to young men to become members of part paid fire departments other than the small salaries received ? A. H. Stevenson, Paw Paw, and Chief Murphy, Lapeer; (2) How can we increase the interest of our citizens in our fire departments? Chief Critch, of St. Johns, and B. R. Clemant of Carson City. (3) Should not fire insurance companies help to sustain fire departments? Assistant Chief Brown, of Alma (affirmative). O. F. Johnson, of Ithaca (negative).
