CONCERNING FIRE HOSE. FIRE hose should be of the very best quality, if it is to be of any real service, and, as the committee on the subject appointed by the National Fire Protection association has pointed out, the “strength of a fire equipment is the strength of the hose.” The report of the committee points out that, until within a few years, there was but a limited number of properly planned equipments of fire protection for individual properties. The cooperation of underwriters and engineers,however, has rapidly developed and established a standard, and it is now the general practice to consider carefully the size of water mains, appropriate hydrant facilities, and adequate pump and reservoir supplies to furnish water under greater volume and higher pressure.
