DETROIT’S NEW FIRE OFFICERS. The Detroit fire board has appointed John Kendall, chief. He has been first assistant for many years, and is the best equipped man in the Detroit service for the position to which he has been raised. Evety detail of the department has been studied and carefully carried out by Chief Kendall, with great care and intelligence,therefore the board is to be congratulated upon its choice. At the meeting of the board the following appointments were made. Chief, fohn Kendall, promoted from assistant chief. Assistant chief. James C. Roderick, formerly chief first battalion.
