ELECTROLYSIS. REPORTS ON THE ELECTRICAL ACTION ON WATER PIPES, CITY OF DAYTON, OHIO. (Mr. Brown’s report continued.) It is my opinion that all cast iron pipes showing a pressure in excess of three volts are more or less injured ; the extent of this injury can be determined by investigation. Reference to the map will show that this covers the pipes on Fifth street from Ludlow to Mound ; on Ludlow street from Franklin to Washington ; on Washington street from Ludlow to Germantown; and on Germantown street from Baxter to Euclid. We have already found some exceptions, which show that the depth of the pipe below the rails plays an an important part; for instance, at the corner of Boulevard and Fifth. the pressure is tour and a half volts at time of heavy load.
