International Association of Fire Engineers. REPORT OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE TWENTY-SIXTH ANNUAL CONVENTION AT ST. LOUIS, MO., OCTOBER 17, 18, 19, and 20, 1898. (Specially reported for FIRE AND WATER.] ON Tuesday, the first day, the morning session opened at 10.30 a. m. Headed by a platoon of police and a band of music, the members formed in line and marched from their headquarters at the Planters’ hotel to the Masonic hall, where the convention was to be held. The convention was presided over by former Chief Andrew J. Kennedy, of New Haven, Conn., who requested Rev. John Matthews to open the proceedings with prayer. ADDRESSES. The address of welcome was delivered bv Mayor Ziegenheirn, who paid a high tribute to the bravery of firemen and the good work they did. He gave the highest praise to the St. Louis fire department, after which he adverted to America’s success…
