THE RAMAPO WATER CONTRACT. COMMISSIONER DALTON’S report in favor of making a contract with the Ramapo Water company is disapproved by the Board of Public Improvements. On Wednesday the board passed a resolution, in effect opposing the making of any contract with a private corporation for a water supply, and, on the contrary, recommending the extinguishment of all water rights of any person or corporation which may be required for the use of the city. The comptroller, Mr, Coler, employed expert engineers to examine and report upon the condition of the Ramapo watershed, also upon the condition of the present sources of water supply—the Croton watershed. The investigation made by the experts proves conclusively the immediate necessity for the consideration of new sources of water supply. Engineer Croes in his report practical^’ endorses this.
