LATEST WATER NEWS. The grand jury which has been sitting at Mineola (L. I.), N. Y., considered thirteen cases against the city of New York—most of them for diverting water courses into the public supply for the borough of Brooklyn. The Queens Lane reservoir, Philadelphia, is again causing trouble by leakage. The sectional school board of the Thirty-second ward in that city has asked the parents of pupils to contribute ten cents each towards providing filters for the schools—a duty which ought to devolve upon the municipal authorities. The town of Union,S. C.,has just placed acontract for a filtering plant for the town supply with the New York Filtering Manufacturing company, 26 Cortlandt street, New York. Morgantown. W. Va., has also placed a contract to increase the New York filter plant already installed in that town.
