THE STANDARD OIL FIRE AT CONSTABLE HOOK.

Issue 3 and Volume 28.

THE STANDARD OIL FIRE AT CONSTABLE HOOK. Owing to extreme pressure on our space last week, we were unable to find room for the accompanying illustration of the fierce fire in the yards of the Standard Oil company at Constable Hook, Bayonne, N. J., by which twenty-five oil tanks were burned, much valuable property was consumed, and a heavy loss inflicted upon the company, which, of course, refuses to give any information as to the exact amount of damage it sustained. The illustration conveys a very vivid impression of the appearance presented by the burning oil tanks during the day. By night the smoke was tinged with flames, which imparted a weird and lurid appearance to the scene.
