FIRE AND WATER. AMONG the emendations of the charter of Greater New York there does not appear a clause giving the city power to acquire water rights in Suffolk county. The embargo was continued by a special clause in the charter as originally drawn up, and, should the revised charter go through, it will still be continued. Can there be any connection between this fact and the presence of a Queens county man on the revision commission? BEFORE the next number of FIRE AND WATER is issued the last Christmas Day of the Nineteenth century will have come and gone. To many such an anniversary brings in its train only recollections of pleasure mingled with pain.
