INSURANCE RATES AT INDIANAPOLIS A local paper comments upon the increase of fire apparatus and raising of insurance rateB in Indianapolis as follows: It will hardly be contended that Indianapolis should spend $100,000 for fire apparatus and calmly submit to an additional increase in insurance rates. The rates in Indianapolis are already high enough. We are having few large fires. We have a fairly good department and a vigilant force of men. Whenever, by chance, there is a fire of any magnitude up pops the representative of foreign insurance companies and demands more fire apparatus and a higher rate of insurance. When and where is this to stop? There w ill alw ays be fires. If there were a fire engine in every house in the city it would be no sure preventive of fire loss.
