VISITS TO PACIFIC COAST FIRE DEPARTMENTS. (Special correspondence of FIRK AND WATER.) YOUR correspondent recently visited the principal cities in California, Oregon, and Washington, with a side trip to two of the centres of population in the Province of British Columbia. The first place on the route was the thriving city of Seattle, on the shores of Puget Sound. There Chiefs Kellogg and Cook have a model department, which will be increased this year by the addition of fifteen men and the consuruction of a new central fire hall in the business portion of the city. The only fully equipped fireboat ou the Pacific coast protects the harbor of Seattle. The Snoqualimie is capable of throwing ten power, ful streams, and has time and again repaid the city for the money expended in her purchase.
