PERSONAL. After the annual election of officers of the Ashland, Ky., fire department (at which all the old officers were re-elected) Walter Burke, of company No. 3, presented Chief Gheringer, who has been a member of the department for sixteen years, with a beautiful gold badge in the shape of a star pendant from a crossbar, on which were engraved the words “Fire Chief.” On the pendant was the inscription, “ Presented by Ashland Fire Department.” The presentation was followed by a banquet. The following officers were elected: Chief, William Gheringer; assistant chief, C. Bush; treasurer, Frederick Hoover; secretary,Bert. Rogers. Mr. George C. Hutchings, has opened offices in the Hall building, corner of Ninth and Walnut streets, Kansas City, Mo., and has taken the agency for the Seagrave apparatus for that point and the surrounding territory.
