FIRE LOSS OF MARYLAND. Dr. R. M. Price, Maryland State fire marshal, has forwarded to the governor the sixth annual report of that office, It shows that the number of fires in Baltimore during the year was 1,217, and the total financial loss amounted to $1,483,732.82. The amount of insurance paid in Baltimore city was $1,456,538.92. There were 490 fires in the counties. The total loss was $933,454 07. Dr. Price calls attention to the dangers of electric wiring, careless nse of gasolene stoves, and the necessity of permanent fire escapes for the public schools, both in the city and State.
