THE ISTHMIAN CANAL ROUTF. According to a Washington dispatch of January 10, Admiral Walker, chairman of the Isthmian Canal Commission, stated that he had received on that day an offer by cable from the officers of the Panama Canal company in Paris to sell all their property in connection with the Panama canal to the United States for $40,000,000. Admiral Walker was to call the attention of the commission to the offer as soon as possible and lay the matter before its members, with a view of reporting on the subject to the President through the Secretary of State. Meanwhile M. Lampré, secretary general of the Panama Canal company, who is in Washington, in answer to a subpæna attended a meeting of the Senate Committee on International Canals.
