CONCERNING BROOKLYN WATERWORKS. We are anxiously awaiting the action of Commissioner Monroe towards cleaning out the waterworks Augean stable of the borough of Brooklyn. His well meaning predecessor, no doubt, had good intentions in this direction, but, as we still find the hungry hawks feeding from the public crib, that gentleman apparently had no time to perform the work for which he was appointed. If Colonel Monroe intends to follow such a course it must soon be known, ft may also he pertinent to learn how the filter plant it Springfield is working? A general contracting firm was awarded the contract to construct filters at this place to purify the polluted water of the pool at a cost of about $176,000.
