THE NEW CROTON DAM. William H. Ten Eyck, president of the Croton Aqueduct Commission, has announced that Coleman, Breuchard & Coleman, contractors for the new $6,000,000 Croton dam, will practically complete their work by December 1, and that the water will be turned into the great basin on that date. The new dam will increase the storage capacity for the city’s water supply by the total of 32,000,000,000 gallons— nearly double the present storage capacity—in the Croton watershed—43,000,000,000 gallons, so that the new dam will increase the capacity to a round 75,000,000,000. The new dam is built six miles below the old one, and, when it is full, the top of the old dam will be covered to a depth of more than thirty feet.
