AMERICAN WATERWORKS ASSOCIATION One session of the twenty-third annual convention of the American Water Works Association convention will be devoted to a discussion of “private fire services.” Representatives of the insurance companies’ and underwriters’ associations will be invited to attend the convention and take part in the discussion—the object being to try to reach a mutual agreement as to what are the proper methods to control such services. At the present time there is a great difference of opinion between the insurance men and waterworks officials as to whether such services should be metered or not, and this difference is the cause of constant friction between waterworks officials and the owners of factories and other buildings having private fire lines.
