CONNECTICUT STATE FIREMEN IN CONVENTION. The twentieth annual convention of the Connecticut State Firemen’s association was held at Branford on August 4 and 5, President Gotsel in the chair. In spite of the very unfavorable weather, more than 200 members attended the sessions in the Music hall. After prayer by the Rev. H. W. Winkley, rector of Trinity church. Warden Luke Quinn welcomed the delegates, and President Gotsel replied. The reports of the officers were then read, after which the president in a few well chosen words thanked the delegates for the courtesy they had shown him during the past year. The report of Secretary John S. Jones, of Westport, showed the membership to be increased. The number of companies in good standing is 227; department members. 112; and life members, seventeen, making the total membership 356—an increase of seven since the last report.
