FIRE NEWS OF THE WEEK. (SPECIAL CORRESPONDENCE OF FIRE AND WATER ENGINEERING) A Nott fire engine has been most successfully tested at Atlanta, Ga. The fire company of Perkasie, Pa., has purchased a new hook and ladder truck. The new fire station on Columbus avenue, Anderson, Ind., for company No. 3 will soon be completed. Six person were burned, three fatally, at a fire in the house 708 Spring Garden, Philadelphia. Two have died. The new engine house of company No. 10, of the Syracuse, N. Y., fire department, has gone into commission. It is authoritatively stated that the battleship Maine has been sent to the Isthmus of Panama without a foot of fire hose aboard her. Frozen fireplugs handicapped the Joliet, Ill., firemen in fighting a destructive fire in the plant of the Adam Steel and Wire company.
