VIRGINIA STATE FIREMEN. The Virginia State Firemen’s association, whose convention was held at Alexandria on August 17, 18, 19, was, as usual, full of interest. To outsiders the parade was, of course, the special attraction. The streets of the city were crowded with visitors, and the buildings were tastefully decorated. The firemen, with their apparatus and bands, marched in three grand divisions, and among the paraders was the Friendship fire company, of which George Washington in his day was a member. The business sessions were presided over by President Trimyer. The treasurer reported receipts of $357. The legislative committee reported that every oossible effort had been made to secure from the last general assembly the passage of the firemen’s relief bill, which provided for the State fund to assist firemen disabled in the performance of duty.
