IMPORTANCE OF FIRE DRILLS IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS. Superintendent James H. Van Sickle has issued the following notice to the principals of the Baltimore public schools: “Let no pains be spared to guard against panic in case of fire. Fire drills should begin at once and should be repeated often enough to accustom the children to emergency signals and rapid movement from the schoolroom to the street. Each teacher should know so exactly what to do in case of an alarm of fire that it will be impossible to find the children of any schoolroom without a calm and self possessed guide.
