THE MENACE OF CARBON BISULPHIDE. Secretary Blumenthal, of the Texas Fire Prevention association, states that the recent fire in the J. W. Crowdus Drug company at Dallas having proved conclusively the danger incident to keeping carbon bisulphate on the premises, it has been deemed advisable to bring the inherent hazards of this product to the attention of all wholesale drug dealers in Texas, together with recommendations for its proper handling and storing, hoping thereby to prevent the recurrence of fires from this cause in the future. The fire referred to was caused by a spark igniting carbon bisulphate vapor in the building. But for the prompt and efficient action of an excellent sprinkler equipment, it would have been a practical impossibility to control the fire, for the reason that a pungent gas was given off, which made it dangerous to get near the scene of the fire.
