PENNSYLVANIA FIREMEN IN CONVENTION. Specially written for FIKK AND WATER ENGINEERING. On October 4, 5, 6 the State Firemen’s association held its twenty-fifth annual convention at Erie, Pa., and, as is usually the case with its gatherings, was a great success. The fact of its being the association’s silver anniversary added additional lustre to the event, and when the convention opened in the Park Opera house under President Spears, the building was at once filled by delegates, visitors to the city and the general public. After prayer by the Rev. B. Canfield Jones, of the Park Presbyterian church, Mayor Hardwick delivered the address of welcome, in which he briefly sketched the rise of fire service from the earliest times to its fullest development as seen in the exhibitions of the Hale firefighters at the World’s Fair, St. Louis.
