PERSONAL. W. Morgan, late chief of Durban. South Africa, was in the city last week on a business trip for the General Fire Appliances company, of Johannesburg. He returned to England on Saturday, after visiting a number of fire department business houses in the city. Mr. Morgan speaks enthusiastically about the progress of the fire service in his country, where he is installing modern fire apparatus. He was especially pleased with an automobile combination wagon just completed by the La France Engine company for Johannesburg. hire Marshal McAfee, of Maryland, is convalescent from a serious operation, which was successfully performed upon him a few weeks ago. A. J. Pray, agent for the Pittsburg Meter company at Columbus, Ohio, has been appointed by the mayor a member of the park commission to devise plans for the general boulevard system of that city.
