WHAT WATERWORKS MEN ARE DOING Notes on Construction, Extension and Management It is impossible for superintendent or prudential committee to stop people wasting water, much as these officers of the fire district of ADAMS, MASS. would like to be able to manage such a difficult piece of business. Yet it is impossible to supply the whole district with water during certain hours of the day. There is water enough, but means are too small to keep up the pressure, and it has been only by constant care aid manipulation of the gate on the main of Dry brook reservoir, that it has been possible to get water into the high points in the district. It is, therefore, recommended once more that a new eighteeninch main pipe be put in from Cheshire Harbor to Collins block, a course which would then carry all the water that Bassett reservoir and the pumping…
