WATERWORKS AT ORONO. On November 1 the new waterworks system at Orono was completed by the Orono Water company. There are now twelve miles of mains laid, a twelve-inch main leading the water to the village from the source of supply at Chemo pond in Bradley. Pipe is laid through the principal streets and the cross streets to the University of Maine and to Basin mills. A concrete dam has been built across the stream and the pipe laid across the Penobscot on Webster side, he water used all passes first through a sand filter ridding it of its impurities. A new pumping station has been constructed on land on the Webster side, the lower story of which is now completed and tlie pumps installed.
