IMPROVEMENTS AT GRAND RAPIDS. The Hydraulic company at Grand Rapids, Mich., making great improvements to its plant on Canal street. These comprise a new pumping station of concrete, new pumping engines, with gas as the motive power, and about 1,500,000-gal Ion capacity, gravel walls at the pumping station to keep out the river from the well and springs. It is thought by the company that the city waterworks is making a strong bid for Hydraulic customers, by making free connections for such of these factories and large consumers as may desire to make a change.
