WHAT WATERWORKS MEN ARE DOING Notes on Construction, Extension and Management During the past few years the sum of $69,711 has been expended upon the betterments of the waterworks system of DUBUQUE, IA. since it passed into the hands of the city. These include the following: Extensions to pipe system, $19,667; system of drive wells, $12,518; Betterments at Eagle Point, $19,103; Eighth street, $1,022; water level, $2,937; meters, $11,047; miscellaneous betterments to the pipe system, values being book values, $3,417.87. Various improvements are suggested which, if adopted, will save the city thousands of dollars every year. In developing the supply from the old drive well system, the expenditures were not only fully justified, but the supply thus obtained is worth many times its cost to the city as a solution to a most troublesome problem.
