MORE “OFFS” FOR OMAHA. At Omaha, Neb., the firemen now have twentyfour hours off in every six, instead of in every nine, as of old. The new arrangement works out as follows: Third day, 7 a. m. to 12:30 p. m.; sixth day, 12:30 p. m. to 7 a. m.; ninth day, repeat. The old schedule was: Third day, 7 a. m. to 12:30 p. m.; sixth day, 12:30 p. m. to 6:30 p. m.; ninth day, 6:30 p. m. to 7 a. m. The new schedule has been adopted for ninety days; if it proves satisfactory, it will be made permanent. It lias been substituted for the firemen’s proposal of some time ago to obtain a day and a night shift system of twelve hours each. Working according to this new schedule, firemen may be absent from their stations three hours a day for meals, an additional twenty-four hours…
