SPRINKLERS A SUCCESS. The Union Wadding company’s plant at Pawtucket. R. I., was recently visited by a fire, which was successfully checked by the operation of the automatic sprinklers with which the larger portion of the plant is equipped. The fire started in some linter waste in the yard, and quickly spread to an adjacent frame storehouse. This building was destroyed, and the fire then jumped to a large sprinklered building, where the sprinklers had been set in operation. The sprinklers held the fire in this building, and the excellent work of the public fire department and the employes of the insured held the fire to piles of cotton in the yard and the frame sheds. ‘The total insurance involved amounts to $600,000, covering on the entire plant.
