NATIONAL FIREMEN’S ASSOCIATION. Secretary P. B. McCarty, of the National Firemen’s association, writes as follows on the subject of the rates of transportation to and from the Roanoke convention: The Central and Southwestern Excursion bureau and other associations controling rates have made an exceptionally low rate of only one fare plus twenty-five cents from all points for the coming convention of the National Firemen’s association, to be held at Roanoke, Va., on August 14, 15 and 16. Without doubt, this is the cheapest rate ever made the association, and, as a result, we anticipate an unusually large attendance. The Baltimore & Ohio railway has been selected as the official route front St. Louis and Cincinnati. All delegates from the Southwest will meet in St. Louis, joining the special train leaving at noon on Sunday, August 12.
