FIRE LOSSES IN PHILADELPHIA. It is not true, the fire insurance people hold, that their losses in Philadelphia are less now than ever before. They quote the latest report of the fire patrol to the contrary. It compares the losses during the first six months of this year with those of 1905, and claims that its figures show that since January I this year the total loss has reached $1,398,088, which, according to the report, is $55,916 greater than the insurance loss during the whole of last year. Of this year s total, $382,969 was lost through the burning of building’s insured, and $1,015,119. on the contents of the buildings burned. F’or the first six months of last vear (savs the report) the losses to the companies amounted to $715,213. which was made up of $250,273 loss to buildings and $464,940 loss to their contents.
