The principal recommendations of Inspector Townsend, of the Western Union, for Grand Rapids, Mich., are: The installation of a lowduty pump, of not less than 15,000,000-gal. capacity; a high-duty pump of not less than 8,000,000gal. capacity; additional boiler capacity pumping station; a new standpipe and the heightening of the old standpipe; twenty-five’ additional fire alarm boxes, and the adoption of the National Board’s “Building Code.”
