METERAGE. At Lowell, Mass., the action of the Water Board in ordering meters on all new services has had a beneficial effect in stopping the waste of water and a corresponding decrease in pumpage. The superintendent had 361 meters installed last year, bringing the total number now set up to 8,040, out of 11.151 services, or nearly three-fourths of the total number of taps at the present time.
