THE DALLAS CONVENTION. Opening of the Proceedings—Election of Officers -Next Place of Meeting. Special dispatch to FIRE AND WATER ENOINEERINU. DALLAS, TEX., October 10, 1906. The thirty-fourth convention of the International Association of Fire Engineers opened here, with every prospect of being a successful meeting. The principal attendance seems to be from the Western and Southern sections; but there is a good representation of Eastern members present. The special excursion arranged by FIRE AND WATER ENGINEERING carried more than fifty people, which helped considerably to swell the number in attendance. So far the weather has proved very favorable, arid in all likelihood the convention will be fairly up to an average. Whilst a considerable number of prominent chiefs and manufacturers of fire apparatus are absent, still, the older members of the association put in an appearance, and are using all their best efforts to make the meeting an old-time success.…
