WATER LITIGATION. In the case of The People’s Gas and Electric Company and the City Electric Company vs., The City of Chillicothe, Mo., the plaintiffs petitioned in the United States Circuit court for an injunction restraining the city council from selling its $100,000 water and light bonds issued for the purpose of erecting a water and light plant, and ruled against the plaintiffs, denying them an injunction. The court’s decision was a victory for the city in every detail. It took up the allegations made in the petition of the corporations one by one and overruled everyone of them. In every point the course that the city officials took during the recent election was sustained. The petition of the companies contained a number of allegations that were contained in the suit which was passed on by the Supreme court in January.
