PUMPING MACHINERY NEWS. At Hancock, Mich., Asst. Fire Chief O’Neil states that an auxiliary pumping station is needed on Belle Isle for fire protection, as the recent burning of the icehouse demonstrated that the island is not well protected. A contract has been awarded at Peoria, Ill., to Jansen and Zoellers, local, for the new pumping station at $1,777. At Spokane, Wash., an $18,000 pumping plant, pacify about 1,600 gals, per minute, will be built in connection with the work of the East Spokane Irrigation company, including George Mudgett and others. Milwaukee, Wis., will soon lay the foundation of pumping engine No. 6 at the North point pumping station of the waterworks. Two bids for a new pumping engine to cost about $50,000, were opened by the board of waterworks trustees at Sioux City, la.
