PRESENTATION TO NEW BATTALION CHIEFS. Last week, the Firemen’s Mutual Benevolent association of Newark, N. J., formally presented the new created battalion chiefs, M. P. A. McDermit and Paul J. Moore, with the outfit proper to their office. The presentation took place in the house of engine company No. 2, on Centre street, the headquarters of the association, and was of a formal nature. Every lire company in the city was represented by one or more men. besides those who happened to lie on their day off. Among others present were Chief Kiersted, Deputy Chief Astley, John B. Oelkers, president of the fire hoard; Commissioner T. Edward Burke; former Fire Chief David Benedict; and Charles S Smith, assistant secretary of the fire board. William II.
