CONVENTION OF CONNECTICUT STATE FIREMEN. The twenty-fourth annual convention of the Connecticut State Firemen’s association met at New Haven, on August 7 and 8. Archibald Macdonald, of Putnam, the president, was in the chair. The members assembled in the Steinart Atheiueum, and was opened with prayer by the Rev. N. P. Carey, chaplain of the association, who also conducted a Memorial Service, fortyfive members having died since the last convention, among these being John S. Jones, of Westport, for so many years secretary of the association and a charter member, and Nicholas Staub, also a charter member, to whom the association owed much. To each of these President Macdonald alluded most feelingly in his opening address. The association was welcomed by Mayor Studley, and was likewise addressed by the veteran former Chief A. C. Hendrick, Fire Commissioner J. II. Pierce and Chief Fancher, of New Haven. In the report, also,…
