MORE SUMMER HOTELS BURNED. During the week ending August 17 many summer hotels were burned. One, the Hotel Brooklyn, situated on the bay front one and a half miles east of Centre Moriches and the most pretentious public house in that section of Long Island, was destroyed by a night fire. The 250 guests escaped serious harm, though several were affected by the smoke that filled the corridors and rooms soon after the flames broke out in the basement. Few, however, saved their effects, only fifteen trunks being removed undamaged. The fire apparently started in the laundry or the kitchen and spread so rapidlv as not to admit of the property or contents being saved. A volunteer fire department, which came at long last saved the stables and other buildings.
