FIRE NOTES FROM SAN JOSE. Correspondence of FIRE & WATER ENGINEERING. The city of San Jose, Cal., recently voted bonds to the amount of $95,000 for new firehouses and equipment, as follows: Sixty-four thousand six hundred dollars for four firehouses, for the construction of which contracts will be let in about a month.—Contracts have been let for the following equipment of the fire department, under Chief G. L. Tonkins: One extra first-size Metropolitan fire engine; one first-size Continental fire engine; a 75-ft. American-La France aerial hook and ladder truck; an American-La France water battery; .200 ft. of z/i-n. cotton, rubber-lined hwse 3.200 ft. of 2-3/4in. cotton, rubber-lined hose; ninety double hydrants, with 4-in. Amoskeag, standard suction-connections; and $3,500 for extending the fire-alarm system.
