METERAGE. At South Bend, Ind., the demand for meters, by consumers, is so great that the water department contemplates a complete change in its present system. A Clinton, Ia., press dispatch says that ten representatives of water-meter manufacturing companies were before the city council endeavoring to have their meters adopted when the council orders all consumers to install them. Seven of the bids were rejected, and the others held for furtlnr consideration, The general manager of the waterworks department, Atlanta, Ga , has been instructed by the water board to make a rigid investigation of certain irregularities in the reading of meters, complaint having been made by citizens whose hills were out of all reason. The general manager says that he discovered that there had been something wrong about the reading of meters when he decided to change some of the readers from one section of the city to another.…
